Is Book Coaching Right For Me?

I have completed my manuscript and know it needs work, but I have no idea where to begin.

Developmental editing is a great next step for you. With developmental editing, we will dig into your story and identify what works, what doesn’t, and what you can do next.

My book has been developmentally edited, but I feel overwhelmed by the feedback and do not know how to go about implementing it.

Book coaching is a great option for you. We can help you implement the feedback from your developmental edit to revise your draft. This can be from the start of your revision process all the way until you are ready for copyediting and formatting, or just until you feel confident enough to continue on your own.

Note: If you underwent developmental editing with another editor, we will need to assess your manuscript before we can begin coaching you through the revision process.

I want to write my own book, but I don’t know how. Ghostwriting does not feel right for me, but I also have no idea how to turn my idea into a book.

Book coaching is a perfect fit. During the process, we teach our clients the craft of story. Some of our clients come to us with no writing experience, and some have been writing for years, but all feel they have improved their craft through the coaching process.

I have started writing a book, but I feel stuck or lost. I need someone to help me figure out my problem and move forward.

Book coaching could be a great option for you. With book coaching, we start with the basic building blocks of writing your book—identifying your audience and genre, building an outline, etc. Through this process, we will help you identify what went wrong, why, and how to fix it.

If this sounds like more than you were looking for, a workshop might be a better fit for you.

I do not like the idea of waiting until my manuscript is complete to receive professional feedback. I would prefer someone to be looking at my writing on an ongoing basis and providing me with continual feedback so that I can improve as I go instead of having a mess of a first draft at the end that needs a ton of work.

Book coaching is perfect for you. With book coaching, instead of waiting until your entire manuscript it written, we will meet about every two weeks. Once you have a solid outline, you will turn your scenes into us two at a time. Our notes will be aimed at addressing your biggest issues first. On scene one, we might need to explain how to write in scene form, but by scene twenty, you will likely have mastered that, and we will have moved on to how to innovate conventions or more nuanced line- and word-level edits.

Scene/ Book Coaching

Scene Coaching is focused, craft-based feedback designed to strengthen your ability to write effective scenes.

Rather than evaluating a full manuscript at once, we work one scene at a time. This allows us to slow down and examine how the scene functions on the page—what the reader experiences, how tension develops, and how the scene contributes to the larger story.

Through structured feedback and discussion, we help you analyze:

How the scene functions within the story
Whether the scene creates meaningful change for the protagonist
How tension, stakes, and conflict are operating
How point of view and emotional experience are delivered to the reader
What revision options could strengthen the scene

Our goal is to help you develop the skills to diagnose and revise your own scenes, not simply to tell you what to change.

How Scene Coaching Works

You submit a single scene (up to 1,000 words). We review the scene and provide professional craft analysis and revision guidance.

Feedback focuses on how the scene works for the reader and how it can be strengthened to better serve the story.

Coaching provides instruction, analysis, and professional feedback to support informed revision decisions. Implementation of feedback and revision choices always remain the author’s choice and responsibility.

Feedback Options

You can choose the format that works best for you on a scene-by-scene basis.

Recorded Feedback (Loom) — $100 per scene
You receive a recorded walkthrough of the scene with detailed craft analysis and revision suggestions.

Live Coaching (Zoom) — $150 per scene
A live coaching session where we review the scene together, discuss revision options, and answer questions in real time.

Flexible, Pay-As-You-Go Structure

Scene Coaching is billed per scene after feedback is delivered. There are no packages and no long-term commitments.

Clients are free to decide from scene to scene whether they prefer recorded (Loom) or live (Zoom) feedback.

This flexible structure allows you to continue coaching as long as it is useful for your writing process.
