Coach Your Novel Program
Purpose and Scope
The Coach Your Novel Program is a structured accountability and coaching program designed to help authors draft a complete novel through consistent scene-level execution and professional developmental guidance.
This program is intended for authors who already have a completed novel outline before enrollment. Outlines may be developed independently or through one of our workshops or coaching programs.
The program focuses on:
- Scene-level execution
- Narrative drive and momentum
- Structural clarity
- Character motivation and escalation
- Reader engagement
- Accountability and drafting consistency
Coaching provides professional instruction, analysis, and feedback to support informed revision decisions. Implementation of feedback and revision choices remain the author’s responsibility.
All services are provided in accordance with our Policies & Expectations, which are included with this proposal.
Program Structure
Program Length
The Coach Your Novel Program includes:
- Ten (10) weeks of active coaching
- Delivered within a twelve (12) week period
This structure allows authors flexibility for up to two planned bye weeks during the program period.
The program is designed as a time-based accountability structure rather than a prepaid bank of scenes. Coaching access begins on the program start date and concludes at the end of the twelve-week period.

Coaching Deliverables for Weekly Scene Coaching
Each active coaching week includes:
- Submission of two (2) scenes, approximately 1,000 words per scene
- A maximum weekly submission total of 3,000 words
- Written developmental feedback
- Recorded Loom video feedback
Authors may distribute the weekly word count across the two submitted scenes as needed. For example:
- Two 1,200-word scenes
- One 2,000-word scene and one 1,000-word scene
- Two shorter scenes totaling under 3,000 words
Submissions exceeding the 3,000-word weekly maximum may require trimming prior to review or approval for additional coaching fees depending on workload and scheduling availability.
All submissions operate under a forward-only drafting model. Authors submit new material each week rather than revising and resubmitting previously coached scenes during the program period.
Over the course of the program, authors may receive feedback on up to:
- Twenty (20) scenes total
- Approximately 30,000 words of drafted material
All coaching is conducted by one dedicated coach for the duration of the program.
Monthly Coaching Calls
The program also includes:
- Three (3) one-hour Zoom coaching calls
- Approximately one call per month during the program
These meetings are intended to:
- Evaluate narrative momentum and story progression
- Identify structural concerns early
- Brainstorm solutions to emerging story problems
- Discuss character arcs, pacing, escalation, and scene sequencing
- Support long-term drafting momentum and accountability
Outline Requirement and Pre-Approval Process
Enrollment in the Coach Your Novel Program requires:
1. Submission of a completed novel outline
2. A pre-program outline consultation call ($150 for 1-hour call)
This process exists to ensure:
- The story has a workable structural foundation
- Major narrative issues are identified before drafting begins
- The coaching period can focus on execution rather than rebuilding the novel mid-draft
Acceptance into the program is contingent upon completion of this review process.
Workflow and Submission Process
Submission Timing
The Author and Coach will agree on a weekly turn-in day. Feedback will be delivered within three (3) business days of submission.
Bye Weeks and Accountability Structure
Authors may use up to two (2) planned bye weeks during the twelve-week program period.
Bye weeks must be communicated to the coach in advance whenever possible.
Examples may include:
- Vacation
- Work travel
- Family obligations
- Illness
- Planned schedule conflicts
Unused coaching weeks do not roll over beyond the twelve-week program window.
Because this is an accountability-based coaching program, missed submissions during the active program period are considered forfeited coaching opportunities rather than deferred sessions.
For example:
- If an author submits two scenes per week during all ten coaching weeks, they will receive feedback on twenty scenes.
- If an author only submits during six coaching weeks, they will receive feedback on up to twelve scenes.
The structure is intentionally designed to support drafting momentum, consistency, and forward progress through the novel.
Submission Method
Once enrolled, authors will receive access to a shared Google Doc for submissions and coaching notes.
Authors are responsible for:
- Uploading assignments correctly
- Maintaining scene organization within the shared document
- Notifying their coach via email when submissions are ready for review
Coaching notes, feedback, and relevant resources will also be added to this shared document throughout the program.
During the first meeting, we will walk authors through how to use the shared system if needed.
Meetings and Scheduling
We use Calendly to schedule all coaching calls. All meetings take place on Zoom. Scheduling links will be provided throughout the program as calls become due.

Coaching Boundaries and Limitations
To ensure clarity and a productive working relationship, please note the following:
- Coaching focuses on craft instruction and feedback; it does not include ghostwriting, rewriting, or revising material on the author’s behalf
- Coaching does not include publishing setup, formatting, marketing guidance, or technical publishing support unless explicitly contracted
- Coaching does not constitute endorsement, representation, or certification of a manuscript
- Feedback applies only to submitted material and coaching discussions during the active program period
- Sessions and feedback are non-refundable once delivered
- Unused coaching opportunities do not transfer beyond the twelve-week program period
- The program is designed to support drafting accountability and consistent execution rather than indefinite submission flexibility
A Shared Goal
Our goal is to create a supportive, professional coaching environment grounded in clarity, accountability, and sustained creative momentum.
The Coach Your Novel Program is designed to help authors move beyond endless planning and into consistent execution while receiving professional developmental guidance throughout the drafting process.
By combining structured accountability with scene-level coaching, we help authors build stronger novels one scene at a time while maintaining forward momentum toward a completed draft.
